Wavelink Intercom — Privacy Policy
TL;DR
We do not collect your data. We operate no servers, no analytics and no advertising, and nothing you do in this app is transmitted to us. Wavelink Intercom is a client for a Wavelink server that your own organization installs and controls. What the app sends, it sends to that server — not to us.
Who controls your data
This matters more here than in most apps, so it is worth being precise. There are two separate parties:
- Us (Austin Storms), the app developer. We publish the app. We run no backend, receive no data from the app, and have no access to any Wavelink server.
- Your organization, the server operator. Whoever runs your Wavelink server — typically your employer, production company or venue — controls the accounts, the channels and any data that reaches that server. They are the data controller for your intercom use, and their own policies apply.
If you want to know what is retained about your intercom activity, or want it deleted, your Wavelink administrator is the person who can act on that. We hold nothing to delete.
What the app sends, and where it goes
All of the following goes only to the Wavelink server address you enter at sign-in:
| Data | Why |
|---|---|
| Server address, username, password | To sign you in and obtain a session token. |
| Microphone audio | Live intercom speech, sent only while you are keying a channel or a hot-mic mode is deliberately enabled. It is streamed for mixing and distribution, not recorded by the app. |
| Channel selection, talk and listen state, presence | So the server knows which channels to route to you and who is currently talking. |
| Connection quality measurements | Round-trip time and packet loss, so the operator's dashboard can show link health. |
Whether the server keeps any of this, and for how long, is the operator's configuration decision, not ours.
What stays on your device
- Credentials and session tokens — stored in the iOS Keychain.
- Preferences — channel banks, gains, button assignments, saved server addresses.
-
Diagnostic logs — written to the app's own Documents folder so you can
hand them to your administrator or to us when reporting a problem. They are never uploaded
automatically. You can read or delete them in the Files app under
On My iPhone → Wavelink. - Paired Bluetooth button identifiers — so your push-to-talk button reconnects.
Deleting the app removes all of it.
Permissions, and why each is requested
| Permission | Used for |
|---|---|
| Microphone | Speaking on the intercom. This is the core function of the app. |
| Camera | Scanning an invite QR code from your administrator to fill in the server address. Nothing is photographed, recorded, stored or transmitted — the frame is decoded and discarded. |
| Bluetooth | Pairing hardware push-to-talk buttons. This is a direct local connection to the button; no Bluetooth data leaves your device. |
| Local network | Finding and reaching a Wavelink server on the same network as your device. |
Apple Watch
The Watch app is a remote control for the iPhone app. It talks only to your paired iPhone over Apple's Watch Connectivity, has no network connection of its own, and stores nothing about you.
What we do not do
- No analytics or usage tracking of any kind.
- No advertising, and no advertising identifiers.
- No tracking across apps or websites. We do not sell or share data, because we have none.
- No third-party SDK collects data from this app.
- No automatic crash or telemetry uploads to us.
- No recording of intercom audio by the app.
Security
- Credentials and session tokens are held in the iOS Keychain.
- Intercom audio is always encrypted. Voice traffic is protected with AES-256-GCM using keys derived per session, so it is not readable in transit on the network. This does not depend on any server setting.
- TLS is always enabled on the Wavelink server and is not an operator setting. Because these are private servers that cannot obtain a certificate from a public certificate authority, the server presents its own long-lived certificate and the app verifies it by pinning its exact fingerprint — which is a stronger check than ordinary certificate validation, not a weaker one. The fingerprint is delivered with the server address when your administrator provisions your access.
- The app has no telemetry channel, so there is no background connection to anyone but the server you signed in to.
Children
Wavelink Intercom is a professional production tool. It is not directed at children and we do not knowingly collect information from anyone — of any age.
Your rights
Depending on where you live you may have rights to access, correct, export or delete personal data held about you. Because we hold none, those requests need to go to your Wavelink administrator, who controls the server. If you are unsure who that is, or if you believe the app itself is doing something this policy does not describe, write to us at stormsunity@gmail.com and we will help you work it out.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes materially, the effective date above changes and the change is listed below. Since we collect nothing, we do not anticipate changes that reduce your privacy.
